So your telling me if i bought a b/top 20v pulled tha head off port polished the exhaust outlets slightly bigger cams in duration and lift if possible , shave bout 30 to 40 thou off tha head high flow injectors, match ported custom extractors and run a stinger4 on it , it aint gunna go hard????
No, we just get Better results and reliablity from the S/top. The combo we use are B/top throttles+manifold, b/top flywheel and yager cams (260 deg 8.8 mm lift)and S/top head and rods, Forged Pistons, 13:1 comp, motec, etc Good for 150fwhp. B/top rods couldn't handled constant redlining, and the rules for this engine state factory rods. The watered down verison uses similar gear but has standard 20V pistons and only 11:1 comp through shaving, b/top cams in which only the intake has slightly higher lift (8.2mm vs S/top 7.9mm), exhaust cams are are identical 250deg,120fwhp; both use customed made and designed headers. Ported, shaved b/top, same pipes made 120fwhp, So why pay the extra $$$?? Most people Buy a B/top to say "hey, I've got a B/top!" That nice's, I've had one for nearly six years and costed half the price they are today! And I ended up converting it from a 6-spd to and auto for the missus! That was a struggle.... The problem with the B/top is the rods and "squish" areas in the head, Shaving the crap out of a S/top head gives much more comp if and when you do the same amount to a B/top. Also the S/top has a lot more meat to play around with in the ports, So a really good porter are able to get better flow rates from the S/top head, seen many times.
