Hey Humble,
I've just been going through all of this for my new intercooler. Spent past two weeks getting more info besides the obvious characteristics of a good intercooler setup.
As you know i'm running a high-flow T04E which some people say is quite laggy.
I've got 2.5 inch piping and was running two mx6 turbo cores welded together and had 225rwkw. I think it was very restictive around 4psi drop accross the core as is has very small runners being designed for a 2.2lt with 7psi.
The factory tank designs were very poor but it did the job. Now i'm getting a custom tube and fin intercooler with some large tanks. The tanks will greatly affect the final pressure drop and flow potential.
Unless your running a very large single turbo, you wont have any worries. Especially with 3lts of engine capacity as you do with your 2jz. The off boost performance is very nice thanks to this compared with smaller capacity turbo engines.
The cooling efficiency of bar and plate cores are about 30% better than an equivalent sized decent quality tube and fin core. Problem is, they dont flow as well.
For me this most important. More flow is more air in the engine, the more air added with more fuel the more power.
I'll PM you the details of the guy who is doing my new intercooler, he is fairly inexpensive and his tanks are really good.
