oil pressure sensor different over 18r generations?

hello
just wondering if the oil pressure sensor is different for various 18r engines.
initial setup: 18rc block, 18rgeu head, oil pressure sensor at front (unknown origin) next to timing cover, i believe a standard 18rc oil filter eaasembly (long stalk up the centre)
rebuilt setup 18rc block (different), 18rgeu head, oil pressure sensor (from the rebuilt 18rc block) in an 18rgeu oil filter assembly.
the initial sensor made the pressure guage read like it shoulld in the ra40 initially, but with this 'new' one, the pressure reading goes off the scale. before i even crank it.
one thing i did before putting the filter on was to put as much oil as i could in the oil filter assembly after rebuilding the bottom end to hope to get as much of the oil into the system on first crank as possible.
obvious solution for me is to use the old sensor to see if that reading will cause the guage to go off the scale as well, then i know it is because i put oil into the assembly, but i am curious (because i like the look of the new sensor compared to the old sensor...it's smaller), are there different sensors that can be found on 18r's
