Sat, 30 April 2005 13:22 do not drive your car home with a loose main pulley, lucky for you your local mechanic will just laugh at you if you ask him to do this, and then not do it. i'd use the starter, after ensuring it will spin the right way, or by kicking a breaker bar in the method you mention. there is no way it will damage your gearbox, as at the worst you will get clutch slip, which you get all the time anyway.
