With the amount of space I have to work with, taking it off is a day long job 
Anyways, here is the finished result. I'm happy with the heat protection, fingers crossed the engineer doesn't nail me for the space.
If I do get made to move it, I think I'm just going to recess the firewall. Less effort than re-positioning the motor and keeps the nicer weight distribution.
