Clip the black clip on the negative battery terminal. Clamp the other do-hicky onto number one plug lead. You want the diagnostic port in the engine bay. A diagram of the pins will be inside underneath its lid. Bridge T1 and E1 with a wire. Start engine. Point flashing light at timing marks on timing chain/belt cover, just above crankshaft. Watch for notch in crankshaft to come whizzing past and show you where the timing is currently. Loosen the CAS, rotate it slowly until you get the timing set at the 10 degree mark (BTDC). Don't worry about advancing it, the factory manual says 10 degrees, leave it there. Pull the bridging wire, test that the spark advance system works by revving the motor and watching the timing.
