Thanks for your help guys - i have tvis on my motor.
The plans for the rebuild at this stage are firstly to fix the damage that has been done over the years. There was an incident where a telegraph pole jumped in front of me and peeled the front right guard back like a sardine can lid and then there's the time I ran into a kangaroo at 120kph and damaged all the bits and pieces in front of the radiator. The car is black now but plans are for a white paint job
Suspension and brakes need an overhaul and the interior is in dire need of attention. When i drove the Celica every day, I didn't really notice these things but I have since bought a 2001 model car and the differences are huge. My emphasis is more focused on comfort these days than when I did the last rebuild.
I have always liked utes but have a love affair with celicas so I am thinking about combining the two at the moment and turning mine into a ute. I have been speaking with an engineer in Townsville who is prepared to certify the job for me. I have heard that you can get structural plans for the body from panel beaters that straighten cars. Does anyone have access to these plans?
Since the motor is tvis and the price of a 4agze is so low these days, I will eventually go for one of those. The autronic smc computer will handle it - i might want to go for a bigger exhaust but I would like to keep the noise down.
The idea is to get the car on the road, working from the front and ground up, then focus on the ute conversion and interior. This will be a long project, but I am looking forward to it.
Cheers,
Dennis
