Hi,
Here's some pics to help you out, regarding the 1st Gen Celicas.
Here's a TA22
Here's another TA22
Here's a rear view of a TA22
Here's a couple of images of an RA23 (TA23 looks the same, but with 2T engine)
The TA22 was built from 1971 to 1975. The RA23 was built from 1975 to 1977. Don't take these dates as gospel, but as a rough guide.
There were a few minor cosmetic changes within the model range (ie the 71-72 have slightly different rear lights and the fuel filler is behind the rear number plate; in 1974 the running script "Celica" changes to block style script for the side badge, etc).
You'll notice the hood shape/bulge/length differences, front indicator lights, front grille, Dragon emblem (on TA22 only), and other phsyical differences.
There were a few other changes but these are within the JDM arena and not applicable to cars imported to Australia. Also, I didn't include the liftbacks 'cos you only wanted to know about the coupes (TA22 & RA23) styles.
Hope this enlightens you a little.
