Mon, 09 May 2005 03:20 You can spot the cheap conversions as soon as the owner pops the bonnet. i am not talking about the lack of bling etc i am talking about the cheap and half arsed approch that is usually evident on everything from the wiring to the piping to the welding. Thats on the stuff you can see, get under the dash and it usually starts to look a hell of a lot worse The ownwers of these "cheap" conversions are usually the same people who are constantly doing repairs, constantly bodging up the original bodginess, constantly whingeing about how unreliable their car is and can usually be heard uttering comments like: "nah man it doesn't need a tune the compuda came wif a mad base map and it runs hektik on dat, fuk paying $400 or more for a proper tune bro" then they then drive off down the road in a backfiring/stalling black cloud of smoke. Wikkid It is possible to do good work on a budget, it is possible to get a shite job for a lot of dollars, but as most people have said. In most cases you get what you pay for! Listen to guys like Yellorolla and 6boost as they have something that most people on this forum lack, EXPERIENCE in modifying cars and doing engine conversions. Or just listen to someone who knows a mate with a cousin whos best mate is "Dangerous Dave" and got a 10 second package for $4k drive in drive out etc etc. Just remember it's all the little things in an engine conversion that add up (especially if you are aiming to do it properly and have a nice, neat, reliable and fully functioning product in the end.
