yer, I had a chat to the brake dude and he reckoned most of the shims were useless too. He recommended the anti-squeals tho (and for $3, I didn't really care).
He also explained that the free-balling was normal (I'm a total brake gumby, so it's a steep learning curve at the moment) - he reckons tehre's no return-force on the pads, they'll just pop back a few thou and that'll all be good.
I still cant work out how the pads won't rub while cornering hard, with no return force on the pads.
