magnetic media is usually NTFS - but am 'reasonably' sure that nero will default to iso9600 (with various extensions) filesystems for burnable media.
as said previously, it seems to cope with most PC and *nix filesystems (being BSD unix in disguise) so you should be able to just copy/burn/give/profit
as for crashing during sleep or when waking up? can be from:
-not waking for network activity so connections to servers are lost/mangled
-networking confusion, paricularly if an LDAP or DHCP or similar server issues new network credentials upon wake up
-OS X not up to date
-workstations sharing off each other (renewed filesharing activity doesn't always wake up workstations trying to share files)
-is not crashing, you're simply seeing network connections being re-established and/or being forced to re-authenticate
-might not be OS but a specific application (tho i've left QXP 6 running - and sleeping - for a whole weekend with a file opened off another sleeping OS X workstation, so it might only be specific apps)
-SMB shares from W2k and W2k3 servers behave fuken weird, some let network connections survive sleep, others dont.
before blaming your Mac, i'd look at your system admin - do it load and run unwanted shite, does everyone have 96Gb of shared iTunes playlists, are you doing stupid stuff like using office X or 2003, is your mac server a real mac, are you trying to use the system 'fontbook' for font management, are too many apps are actually running, is the drive nearly full (Toast leaves disk images behind even when you say don't save), does it have enough RAM? ...
