well, i managed to drive it to the mechanic
getting outta the garage was bit tricky at first, cos it was stuck in reverse so i had to heel toe my way out. then i had to turn off the engine to shift to first. had to drive in first gear the whole way, but lucky for me, its only about 2 km away. then hit the trafic lights, bit more heel toeing to prevent stalling...

i dont understand why you couldnt drive around without the clutch?
i can do this quite simply.
out of gear, into neutral, lean with firm pressure onto the desired gear, and rev the engine up and down til the gear grabs and engages.
synchros are there for a reason.
i do it when i cbf moving my left foot on the drive home from work.
i know it cant be good, but meh.
