I believe the TPS on the 2TG is basically used only as a throttle switch, showing throttle closed, flat out, or somewhere inbetween, but not variable between either extremity, so it probably doesnt serve as important a role.
TPS is generally used for functions such as closed loop, and fuel cut on deceleration, so your car 'should' still run fairly well without it connected, unless the ECU has a "limp home" mode where it runs a very basic map when it recognises that a sensor is not there or disconnected, in which case it wont perform too well.
