Hey I found the thread Smile Sorry Xmas is bloody busy time of year !

OK this really is a bit of a no win arguement for either side. There are distinct advantages for both engines so depending on what you want, What you have and what car it is going in either engine is a good idea.

The 4AGTE will always be lighter and newer than a 2/3TGTE.

A T series will always have the option of more capacity.

A 16 Valve head is tecnically better than a 8 Valve and should provide a higher air speed.

The T series heads are Shim under Bucket Factory as opposed to the 4A shim over which limits the amount of lift you can run on the factory valve train.

The 4A is Timing Belt as opposed to the T series Timing Chain.

The 4A series is also a Non impact head !

The 4TGTE has be raced professional by TTE in Turbo from. No 4A Turbo engine has been Raced by a Toyota Factory team to my Knowlege. (Mind you try and find a 4TGTE !! )

The entire T series range is RWD !

How do you decide what is better ? Each person will have a different set of requirements to make it the better engine. Some people will say the 4A is better just because it is more tecnically advanced Others will say the 2/3T is better because it can have a larger capacity. Is the engine that makes more power the best or is it the engine that makes more power per Cubic Centremeter ?

Most people will say one of the engines sucks because they had one or know of one that was not built, tuned or maintained correctly and so didn't perform to their expectations ! And thats really the biggest part of this arguement. The many will critise an engine because of their own inefficiencies to use it to its fullest potential while the rest of us who take the time to truely evaluate the potential of an engine and its requirements will build something that perfoms well and is suited to our own driving style regardless of weather it be a T series or A series engine.

Both engines will yield a good performance and can be built on just about any budget. For the tightest of Budgets the T series family provies ALL the necessary parts factory. There is no 4A turbo manifold factory or Factory bellhousing to fit a Strong RWD gearbox. However both of these can be overcome with $$$.

In summery .... Build a 3SGTE !! They are newer and a better design than both ! Wink

But hey I will always be a major supporter of the T series engine I am building ne for my car as most of you know and it is the best engine for my personal requirements in this car.

I realise most people probably expected me to say hey build a T series 4A suck but fact is they dont when they are in the right hands and respecting the choices and abilities of other Toymodders and helping each other get the best from whatever path we choose is what these forums are really all about !

Thats my Rant for now ! Merry Xmas Toymodders ! Smile
