Filled up engine and gearbox oil (now have 2 gearbox coolers so took heaps), checked everything was ok and cranked it over. To my extreme enjoyment, the oil pressure went straight to 40psi! I then watched it and it held that pressure well. After about 1 minute, I turned it off and refilled it as the oil had to pass through the filter etc. Checked the gearbox oil as well and it needed a fair bit also. Started it up again and waited for it to get up 80deg water temp which is when the thermo is set to come on at the moment and also when the pressure dropped last time. It was holding about 30psi before, and went down to about 20-25psi which I think is usual as the oil thins out. All this is idling figures, it did go up when I opened the throttle but I have no exhaust at all so I hit 2% TPS and max revs of 1250rpm! So is 20-25psi on idle ok at operating temp or should I go for a thicker oil? It is currently using 10w30 semi synthetic. It is about time I had some good luck!!! [Report message to a moderator]
