Nav2K - I didn't take the engine out, the car was already red, the only reason i resprayed it was because i crashed into the back of an unmarked police car. The front panels needed replacing and spraying, so why not respray the whole car. The most time was taken sanding the original paint back, and fixing the rust in the rear quarters (Look above the rear quarter, there was heaps of rust and now it's completely fixed and smooth, i spent hours trying to get this done properly). Those engine pics are from when i did the original engine conversion ages ago
boofis - the paint is a 3 layer acrylic paint (base colour, pearl then clear layer) and the primer i used was just ordinary automotive primer
As this was the first go at painting a car it has lots of imperfections and dodgy bits, i just helped my friend respray his Mazda Capella and it turned out 10 times better than my car so i think i will have another go at spraying my corolla!, and hopefully i will get an even better result.
