seems to be a british thing, for cars without a collapsible steering column.. needed to pass SVA test.

i'd feel pretty unsafe knowing there was a solid column waiting to pierce my brain, collapsible boss or not....
oh wait.. i do have a solid column bugger...
i would not be confident that there are legal in Aus..
anyway, all you need to do is to look inside the boss. if it looks flimsy and breakable, it's collapsible.
if it looks sturdy, it's not
