If you're really concerned - use some kind of dial-out measuring thingo to get an exact measurement then ask the people who hi-flowed the turbo what the shaft play should be given it's usage/life-since-rebuild.

you mean the "reaching in and pulling out your spinal cord" kind of screech?
if you were totally anal you could dismantle the turbo and check for contact on the bearing surface... or just measure the shaft movement first 
sure it _could_ have caused problems, but only if the oil supply to the turbo was lower than the oil needed. if the restricted supply still had enough flow/pressure to get enough oil to the turbo, then you are fine..
thats abotu all there is to it
