Well after 3 days of constant WD40 soakage, and a few phone calls to alignment places with the end result of laughter, I found a 19 mm dwarf ring spanner. This actually fit in the gap, and, with a little persuasion from a brickie's hammer, I was able to undo the 4 pesky bolts.
