maybe you could try shorting out the T pin to earth at the ECU. the E1 in the diagnositcs plug is just an earth.
or even useing a multimeter check continuity between E1 and an earth and the T to the ECU, just to make sure there are no breakages in the wires etc.
though i wouldnt not normaly suspect timing to be a cause of a miss.. ?
