The speed limit is there & its antiquated. I have about as much faith in the driving tests in thius country as stepping on quicksand. The number of idiots who've managed to get licences is ridiculous. Germany is really hard to get a licence & they're got autobarns. In England, the cops only enforce the 85th percentile speed. ie if 85% of the traffic is moving at a speed upto 75mph they'll only book people for travelling over that, even if the limit is 60mph. Toobs: I might just have to do that. I reckon the straight I was on would probably handle quite safely 200km/h. Roads like the M4 are designed with a safety margin in mind, both so the limit could be raised later if wanted, & also so emergency vehicles can travel safely above the limit (what kind of margin would be needed for an ambulance travelling at 130+?) I sent an email off the RTA last night. They said to contact the Infringement bureau (who I reckon will say tough & take it to court) Request a copy of the engineering specs through freedom of information. Unless of course you can just whip them out from work [Report message to a moderator]
