I found with my old NA motor that if I mounted the AFM so it was tight to the manifold that it wouldn't run right at low revs. I think the shaking of the motor was moving the vane in the AFM. I fitted a rubber hose about 10cm long between them and bolted the AFM to the rear firewall and it ran fine.
