what makes a ta22 any better ??
i drive a gemini - infact my project car is a gemini. i luv toyotas, absolutely luv em - but there is no way in hell that ANYONE can tell me that a gemini is not the best first car for someone who wants to LEARN how to modify their car
my first car was a gem, my second car was a corolla 88 csx 1.6 4ac1 carby 5 speed, my third car was a gem, my fourth car was a gem (which i currently am building on - been off the road since September 2003 full rebuild) and my most recent addition is my st162.
the gemini is the cheapest, most reliable, and most importantly, easiest, rear wheel drive car to work on that can yield some results and still function as a bit of a sporty \ attitude car
my 1600 g series carby motor had some minor work done with a full rebuild and would be head to head with SSS pulsars, chop any lancers and late model rolla's etc - the only cars i couldnt beat were V8 commodores - now for a motor that cost me all up 680 dollars for a rebuild, and a car that cost me 350 dollars without rego plus about 400 bucks to get it up to scracth plus rego, there's no way you can beat that - plus the fact that i learnt a hell of a lot from that car
now with my current gemi im running a 4ze1 2.6 litre rodeo motor bored 120 thou and stroked 10 thou (now is a 2.9 litre) with a t03 turbo (to be upgraded to a gt40/45 soon), custom front mount 450x300x79 intercooler, custom inlet and exhaust manifolds (made by me), forged ross pistons, forged argo steel rods, balanced and blueprinted bottom end, lightened flywheel, billet stage 4 cam, vernier gear, (motor is built to handle 35psi of boost) 6 x 13bt injectors, custom plenum, bosch 910 fuel pump, microtech (or megasquirt maybe) computer, running crank angle sensor with 4 external bosch coils (direct fire ignition) brass button 6 puck clutch with 1.2 tonne hand made pressure plate, celica 5 speed gearbox with standard gem diff (for now)
that is my gem as it is - motor is built, bodywork is done (ford blueprint paint with lilac pearl, with 4 point roll cage) interior will only be slighlty modified (yet to buy race buckets and harnesses) and motor needs to be dropped in, computer installed and then dynoed \ engineered\ registered and she'll be done
im hoping for 350hp at the wheels with the current t03 turbo (max of bout 18psi boost) but about 550-600 horsepower AT THE WHEELS with the GT40/45 set to 30/35psi with water spray and thats when my hilux 4.9:1 four link rear lsd will go in - this setup should run 10's or if im lucky, even 9's
whoever calls this rice - give me a call when im done and ill take you for a ride - you tell me if its rice
rice is a fucken honda civic or 92 model corolla Csi with turbo badges that havent got enough torque to move up a 30 degree angled hill - that is rice
gem's are classics - buy one, learn on it, if u want to then do it up, otherwise use it as a learning base so u can move on to whatever u like later on
i personally can pull apart and put back together any gemini or rodeo motor to standard specifications in a total of 4 hours strip and rebuild - thats the beauty of gems - everything is simple and if ur willing - u can learn a hell of a lot
thats my rant - and dont be calling gems rice bitches
as for enflamed - i dont know what you drive or what u know, but please show me why ur car is less 'rice' than a gem, considering of course that both cars were designed and made in Japan (yes believe it or not, shock, horror, surprise, gemini's are entirely isuzu spec, holden merely got them over here and assembled the ALREADY MANUFACTURED parts in oz under the shit badge of Holden - exactly the same as the Holden NOVA and APOLLO of late 80's early 90's)
