Hi guys, when I bought the cressida the O/D light has always been flashing when I drive. Finally got some free time and pulled code 61...which is speed sensor #2. Just wondering how I fix this? I had a search thru the forums and someone had mentioned something about needing an MX83 transmission housing or something, but not sure if that is related. Rather not spend a lot of $ to fix what seems to be a minor problem. Also the speedo needle tends to wobble around a bit when I am doing about 40kph, but then settles down when I hit 60 or so kph. Doubt that is related though. The car uses a stack of fuel, 18-20L per 100km, even when driven fairly sedately, what fuel economy do you other 1JZ cressida guys get? Just trying to see if this is normal. The MX6 (also a 2.5L 6cyl) used 10-12L per 100km around town, but weighed 200kg less and wasn't turbo. Would the O/D light flashing put the motor into some sort of emergency mode that uses more fuel? Or is that more for errors like O2 sensors etc? The car has an SAFC, which has been tuned apparently, but could this be responsible at all? The tacho doesn't work (the SAFC is my tacho for now), can I just change the resistor in it as outlined in the Word doc elsewhere on this site, or do I need one of those tacho boosters from Sixworks? If so are they simple enough to fit? Do they go in the engine bay, or just behind the dash? The car seems to hit some sort of power loss issue at highish revs (4000RPM+), the car should be putting out around 170kW at the wheels, and sometimes pulls hard when driving (fun!), but other times seems to hit some sort of boost/fuel/other cut. On the dyno I only got about 114kW, so something is definitely amiss. Here is an MP3 of it on the dyno when it was playing up: http://ribfeast.no-ip.com/cressida/cressida_dynoso und.mp3 Some of the suggestions I have heard and other ideas I have come up with are: Coil packs (engine has 87,000kms) Spark plugs (just fitted new BKR6E-11 plugs, will try regapping to 0.8mm soon). Previous owner tried doing this though and it didn't work he said. Clogged injectors (ran injector cleaner thru the fuel to no avail) Fuel filter clogged Old/bad fuel - car was unregistered/undriven for 18 months. I've burned the old fuel thru and filled up twice now, same problem MAP sensor (I have a spare, have yet to try this though) Badly tuned or even faulty SAFC - overfuelling or underfuelling? Maybe it is running too rich and clogging the cylinder/not burning fully? Wrong engine tune? Maybe it is tuned for 102 octane? O2 sensors - chassis has 218,000kms on it Boost cut (car is running stock boost though?) Fuel cut Fuel pressure regulator? Any other ideas or something that can help me narrow it down? Will it hurt the car while I am driving it like this? It is fine for regular driving, but I don't want to damage the engine or melt a piston if there is any risk. The colder the night the less it seems to happen I think, but need to confirm this. I might even try and see Shane when we can arrange a time when we are both free, could just be something simple.
