If you mean spark timing, then the above answer is probably good enough though I wouldn't go more than about 2° - 3° more than stock. If you mean cam timing, then I'd be happy to advance the inlet cam by a good 5° and at the same time retard the exahsut by the same to impove the mid range. You'd notice the change in cam timing, but I doubt if you'd really notice anything with the spark timing change. I moved the spark on my engine 2° and if made little change to the mid range and only maybe a couple of HP at lots of revs. I went another 2° and the power actually decreased a little.
