It actually got worse after replacing the old shocks and springs which were very soft now running a mild HD standard ride height springs, lot stiffer than before but not stiff. I've heard that in some cases the tramp can be caused by play in the pinion shaft bearing. The pinion trys to 'climb' the crown and as traction is broken it unloads, traction regains and then it happens again... Might even be made worse by installing newer/stiffer suspension components. Never actually seen this but it might be worth a look. [Report message to a moderator]
