well.... a filter like that will not pass a lot of water thru it quickly.. even if you fully submerged it in water when the car was running, you are more likely to starve the engine of air before you get hydraulic lock.. (you could try it and see whaty happens ) i think the water prob is more that the water obstructs the air from passing thru and so motor cannot get sufficent air to run, as opposed to water passing thru the filter and stopping the engine due to ingested water.
the splash guard looks good, and ducting/obscuring from view would also be good ..
how noisy will it be with the filter at the front of the car?
