the pads went in today!!! hehehe, i'm pretty sure that they are not bedded in yet, but even still, oh what a difference they make... i've only had the chance to drive home from work in peak hour traffic, and already i can notice that they bit a lot harder than the OE hilux pads...
Dylo...
yes i'm using the vented pug 604 discs and i have not had a problem with the pads fitting... as for the GTO pads, well they almost fit... a few little mods carried out on the bench grinder assured that they now fit fine... the outer pads drop right in with no concerns... it is the inner pads that required the work...
the inner pads have a central mounted pad depth indicator that fits if you want to leave it there, i think thses are a dicky idea so i pissed them off... the areas that required mods was the lower corners of the pads cos they foul on the caliper mount on the strut... this does not allow them to drop in deep enough. but with some careful reshaping using a grinder, and minimal removal of pad area, the pads fit nicely...
as for pad thickness, the EBC pads are quite a bit thinnner than OE hilux pads... before i fitted them i measured that the pad height off the backing plates was 8mm, sorry i did not measure the actual thickness of the backing plates... maybe your problems could be related to what caliper you actually have, are you sure they are LN106 calipers??
anyway, once they are bed in and i have a chance to give them a work out, i'll let you know again how they go...
if anyone is interested, chack out some of my pics here:
