you're right norbie - on auto MA61s you have to chop an inch or 2 of metal off the front of the position. I've had to do this on mine, and have seen it done on many others. (but not on my original, as it was factory manual)

That is macho interesting!!!! I was just under the impression that the MA61 shifter position was different to the MZ10 one, hmm would appear not! Appears that MA61 may indeed be the correct position and its the fact that all MZ10's were auto (to my knowledge) that made things interesting the other night during the 7mge -> MZ10 transplant...

Back to the topic of R154 gearboxes, I was under the impression that the shifter position between the JZA70 and MA70 were the same (I don't have first hand experience on this tho however!), however I thought that the JZZ30 was different (further back)...if yours is coming up right at the back is it possible that you have a JZZ30 R154 with the further back shifter position?

I've never seen a M to W series bellhousing side by side with a JZ to W bellhousing. Are they the same length?

Justin

I can check this and get back to everyone.

Cheers
