Clutch for 900kg / 160hp
Thu, 30 June 2005 13:46
Hi,
Context:
I need a clutch.
Informations:
I'm building a motor for a 900kg road registered car intended for Supersprint and other tarmac events.
It's high rev naturally aspirated (no turbo torque behaviour), and I'm estimating around 160hp or 120kw at the flywheel.
It's based on a 2T, so if factory flywheel is retained the clutch face is 200mm.
Questions:
Will the standard clutch (with new OEM-style friction plate) be capable of standing up to this application?
If no, can I use the standard pressure plate with a custom friction plate to achieve an acceptable result?
If no, what pressure plate and friction plate combos should I look into?
I know there's no real exact answer, but I have no real clutch experience, so suggestions and experience is welcome.
