Almost anything you put in will make it more fun than a stock 4k!
it all depends on how much you want to spend, what you can do yourself, and what exactly you want from the car.
the reason 4AGEs are so popular is that they are a strong and powerful engine for a stock 1.6, they rev like hell,they are cheap and pretty easy to find (in FWD form but easy to change.)
remember that if you choose a 4age or a 2tg you'll need to convert it to hydraulic clutch, which isnt that hard but something to keep in mind 
Also, dont think that you have to get rid of the 4K to get power...if you throw a bit of money and or sweat at a k motor, you could be surprised how much power,people on here are getting from k motors.
