yeah an r31 diff would be good, you would need to do atleast something like welding a stock diff, or it would bust everytime you do a hard launch.
ive seen a stock, poorly running 3k break, a ke30 diff, and i busted the uni joint taking off in a mates ke30.

retaining a k motor would be the cheapest and easiest option, and it is possible to get power from them, but like i said, you need to think of..
1.what will you use the car for?
2.how much money do you want to spend on it?
3.what power figure are you looking for?
4.what will break with this sort of power going through it?

if you dont plan it properly, you'll end up with a ghetto ride that costs heaps.

i am doing up my KE35 coup, and i will be going with a 4age, after considering all these things, i decided that, in stock form it will go about as hard as a 2tg, but it will be lighter (i think) and cheaper to run, plus a 4AGE has alot more modification options, than a k or t motor.
