The single-piston Supra calipers have the advantage of being lighter than the big 4-piston Hilux units, which has obvious advantages in terms of unsprung weight. As for their effectiveness, I would be very surprised if anyone found the limits of these brakes on the street... anything more is really overkill if you're not building a race car.
