Draven, can you tell me where can i get a copy of these guidelines? I'll be needing to do this soon to fit my IC piping in but would like to do some background research. Cheers.

buy them from the RTA head office near central station. when i got mine they were $50 (was a few years ago tho)
as far as the guidelines go, there is no distinction drawn between fully sealed and unsealed batteries  .. regardless of if an engineer passes it, it's still a grey area (unless of course, you get it in writing from the RTA  ... ie keep asking until someone does )
