I was just looking into batteries yesterday for the girlfriends car.
I normally use dry cell batteries for work but at around $250 its not worth it for her car. Started looking at the batteries with the vent tubes which are a bargain for around $120. But then I found some fully sealed bike batteries!
I'm not sure if they are dry cell, but the specs state they emit no gases at all. They are not as high capacity as the larger car batteries, but plenty big enough to start a car. And in fact the place I went to sponsors a WRX which is using one.
