What they are suggesting is a bandaid solution to your rooted suspension geometry.
What you're suggesting is an even more bandaid solution, especially if you've got assymetrical tyres.
I guess there's two options:
1> Short term cost, long term gain: Get a rear camber fix to correct your alignment. Reap the long term rewards.
2> Long term cost, no gain at all: Replace the rear tyres every x/2 kilometers (where x represents typical tyre wear rate).
