I don't know of any front sump configurations for 18RG/U/EU engines.
Celicas had a fairly central sump-slightly rear.
Coronas had same layout but with centred pickup and appropriate baffling for that pick up (I'll be using that one to avoid oil delivery issues on hard right hand corners).
Hiluxs used basically same sump as celica/corona but it has an extra lowlying area at the back for extra volume and tilt allowances.
I don't know about the R engines hiaces at all.
Of course you could always do a custom sump and custom pick up. I may think about that if I get around to doing steering.
There are a few cars that have their rack and pinion mounted infront of the front wheel, Triumph 2500S cars do, as do a few newer front wheel drive cars (Mazda 121 Metro does I think).
