In length, the W5x and J160 are almost idedntical.
the difference is in the shift position, and this can be remedied partially by a large kink in the shifter, however perhaps relocating the shifter would work better.
moving your engine so far foward is not the best idea.
The J160 also runs the same tailshaft spline as a w58. so tailshafts are identical.
perhaps if you wanted a cheap fix, you could shorten the stick on the handbrake, bend the shifter and then cut your shifter hole in your trans tunnel back another 2 inches or so.
