actually, not that black..
basically... if the belt is Amm thickness, the outside does a fixed amount more distance than the inside...asuming the belt is a circle, and the difference in radius is Amm.. the difference in circumference is 2Pi(R+A) - 2PiR = 2PiA
ie approx 6.3mm longer for each mm of belt thickness, so if belt is 4mm thick (from bottom of rib grooves) the outside will be 25.2mm longer than the inside....
i would be very interested for you to try this since you have the belt off anyway

edit: this works for any circle things, ie race tracks (maybe american ones ).. 1m further out from a certain line means you have 2Pi x 1 metres further to travel, ie 6.3meters for each extra meter you are further out... soa car width of what? 3m = 18m further distance... aaaanyway
