Not specific to ST185RC ('cos I dunno), but a generalisation of W-A intercoolers.

The red liquid is coolant. Exactly the same as in the radiator. The reason the coolant doesn't go in to the inlet is because it is isolated. There is no direct contact between the inlet charge and the coolant. Basically the intercooler consists of the inlet pipe runnning through a jacket of coolant. This coolant goes through the heat exchanger in the front bar, which is essentially the same as a radiator. So the inlet temps are controlled by the cooler, and the coolant is chilled by the heat exchanger.
