A compression ring may have failed allowing compression to leak into the crankcase area. This will in effect cause a few other symptoms like extra crankcase pressure (which can be seem by removing your oil cap whilst motor is running and see the vapour gashing out).

First thing i'd do is a compression check. Also have a good look round your head an inlet system for any fresh leaks of oil and/or fuel. Might be a gasket...
