Here are some facts straight from an MTX8 user (me)
Engine 4AGTE
ECU: MTX8
Cold start temp range I have experienced and have the car fire first go and idle perfectly on its own: -7 to 42 degrees celcius
Highway fuel consumption: <7L/100km
City driving varied between "spirited" driving and cruising: anywhere from 9L - 12L/100km (depends on how deep the go pedal is buried)
Max power: ~170rwkw @ 18psi
1/4 mile: 12.8 @ 108mph
How long has the MTX8 been fitted: approx 2 years
Comments, it idles smooth, it drives beautifully, it makes reasonable power, has been reliable, and basically does what it's meant to. Anyone who has been in or driven my car always comments on how fantastic it drives. My ECU has been installed correctly and was tuned by a reputable tuner, hence it WORKS damn well.
The ECU doesn't have any/many auxillary inputs/outputs, can't datalog etc, but I don't need those functions so it's fine for me (barely get enough time to drive the thing let alone sit at home and analyse what it's done on a drive).
I couldn't care less what ECU people use as no cash goes in my pocket, but from what I have experienced, every Microtech MTX and later model has performed well when installed correctly and tuned well. The only ones that I have seen perform like most people describe i.e. shit, was installed by a retard and run on a base map with a slight tinkering on the road by a "dude" with no idea .
People really need to back up their claims on this forum sometimes instead of just talking 8th hand bullshit they overheard at a dyno day they went to to watch their mates car run at
Oh, I heard that modified cars are unreliable and it's best not to own one.........
In summary: use what ever ECU you like, they all have pros and cons. If your car is a bucket and you get a dodgy dude to do the tuning no brand of ECU will save you!!!!!
Don't believe everything you read on a forum, some khunts on here have never owned a car let alone turned a spanner
