Celica ST184 Exhausts...?

Hi, I don't know if it's been asked or not, but I'm pretty sure I would have seen it if it was...but I'm just wondering about ST184 exhausts...From what I know...is the stock size a 2 1/4 inch pipe...? If so, I thought for an NA engine 2 1/4 inch is the optimal isn't it...? Or for the Specific Celica engine at least...? If this is the case, how come people still get their exhaust systems changed...? Is it a great improvement...or...? Yeah...I don't know...I don't know much at all, so if anyone could help... Thanks a lot!
