Pretty sure Gen 1 and 2 are completely different. They certainly are on the NA motors.
Try a couple of different Toyota dealers. There's a big difference in the service level that various dealer offer.
I was looking for a 3SGE Gen 2 engine manual. The first Toyota dealer without even checking the computer told me they were no longer available and there's was no way I'd be able to get one.
The second Toyota dealer looked it up and said it would be $40 and they'd have by next Wednesday...and they did.
