aussie260z Regular Location: ACT Registered: April 2005	Re: 2jzge into Zed Fri, 22 July 2005 05:07 Will a zed with a toyota heart be ok Well, ive got alot of cases of clean skins, went wondering around the Barrossa valley with my Dad and hassled the wine making folk, ask them for the stuff they trade amongst themselves, stuff that isnt for sale so they dont badge it, get it really cheap and its damm fine wine , argghhh being a cheap b#stard I agree though, Canberra is the ticket, much more central location, especially for me, JustenGT4 - the 1jzgte and the 2jzge werent all that different in price, though the 2jz was cheaper, The 2jzgte was way out of my UNI student, youth allowance, part-time job price range , But the 2jzge i figure would also be alot cheaper to get running as i wouldnt have to deal with intercooler and piping, plus probably a tad bit easier to engineer, It took me ages to figure out which engine to get, I looked at 1jz, 2jz, 1uz, Old school 350chevy, 305Holden, 289 & 302 Ford, Hemi6, Lt1 350 Chevy, Ls1 350 Chevy, RB20, 25, 30 & Hybridz Rb25/30, 7mgte, But bang for buck i just couldnt go past the 2jzge, it was also the easiest to fit, by a long way really, The closest was the RB engines, but you have to buy a $500 rear sump and NA RB's dont have that much power, and if you go turbo the RB25DET 5-Speed if freakin huge, thus you need to cut up the Zed trans tunnell, I wanted to do a conversion, that 1 - Wouldnt f#ck the zed, like cutting it to bits, & 2 - Could easily be adapted to my Red Daily Driving Zed and also replicated if other folks wanted to go down a Hybrid Zed-1jz/2jz turbo or non-turbo route, Also the 2jz was cheaper than all of the above (maybe except a NA RB30 - but bugger that) and it has 170kw approx standard, and the only cars ive ever had that just ran and ran and ran were a TA22 Celica and a V6 1988 Toyota Camry (some weird jap import version with a 2.5litre engine), Surprisingly the most expensive engines on my list were the LS1 & the LT1 350 chevies, like $5000-$7000AUD for 40k old motors from the states, i could get a rebuild Rb25/30 with accessaries for $3500AUD...........mmmmmmmmmm But yeah, i went with the 2jzge because it was cheap, but also because it has lots of power and out of all the engines i looked at was the best fit for the zed, well...... a 2jzgte would have been easier because the intake dosent wrap over the block, but i reckon you would have to mod the trans tunnell to fit the Getrag, the 1jzgte would have been the best fit for sure, not as tall as the 2jz and doesnt have the wrap over intake, and you would use the W58 behind it so no trans tunnel mods, [Report message to a moderator]
