If it's through a sandwich plate on the filter then it's under pressure, not return. You don't need braided hose but I would recomend "oil ooler hose" Like most hose it has braid embeded inside the rubber. Try at your local enzed or pirtek and get some hyraulic hose. It's more than enough for the temp, oil and pressure. Next time you see one on the road pull them over or call the mobile on the van. The mobile guys usually have offcuts I've bought cheap in the past. They can even crimp the fittings for you if needed.
