ive only had this trouble when i go through a deep puddle, and the carpet only gets wet cause water gets through the holes in the firewall for the electronics.
that said ive only taken out part of my dash, never the whole thing, but im sure you could do it will a screwdriver and a spanner set, and something to mark where everything goes!
