Much as I hate to say it, an old-school V8 or a turbo 13B is the way to go for straight-line thrills, simply because it's been done a thousand times before and it's a proven package. Why must you butcher a classic Toyota though? Get an old Corona or something and hack that up, they're lighter anyway.
