1mz-fe tranny. Thu, 23 January 2003 05:28 Go to previous message
Hey boys and girls,

I have an idea for a project that involves the slick 1MZ-FE motor in a RWD configuration. I have done some digging and haven't found any OEM installations of this motor as a RWD (correct me if I'm wrong).

So, does anyone know if the W55 or any other more common manual will bolt up to this? I am attempting to build this project using as many OEM-available parts as possible and would like to avoid anything that needs some custom bellhousing from a manufacturer who could vanish tomorrow. The 1MZ will stay essentially stock (with maybe a basic P&P and opened exhaust), so the tranny will need to handle at most 250hp/300tq.

While I'm on the subject, are there any known weaknesses in this motor? Like I said, I am not trying to build a 1000 hp monster, but I would like to be able to push it sometimes without raining various engine parts over a square mile. I have read that it has undersized rods, but that they have only failed in turbo installations.

Thanks for any help.
