Are you sure there is a sensor in there? On my AE93 4AGE motor there is a wax pellet thing that hooks up to the water piping under the inlet manifold. It closes up the port on the bypass air when it's hot. It never worked properly. I solved this on my engine by blocking the hole with silastic.
